In the four days of owning Fully Flared, I've watched this video over a dozen times... i can't even really explain anything about this video.... i'm still in awe... In the recent onslaught of straight crap videos, it's good to see a fully hyped video live up to and surpass the hype... let's start with a rundown...
intro... i love the crailtap fam intros... too funny..
Mike Mo- god damn is this kid good... solid landing on all tricks, insane tech gnar... i lil' to p-rod/rogersesque for me sometimes, but he definitely stands out individually... let's hope he doesn't switch over to plan b...
Papps- no why on god's earth are you lil net mongers hatin' on this dude? and i've read some dumb ass stuff like 'poll jam bangers are a digression from pop shuv crooky enders,' first off, whoever wrote that... straigt dumb... for any of you who know nothing about skating, this part was raw, hardcore skating... yeah, it's eastcoast, and for anyone who's lived/skated on the east, you know how gnarly his part was, i doubt half you lil net homos would even roll down half the stuff this dude switch ollied into... nuff said, one of my favorite parts of the vid...
jesus- i've never seen half of these tricks in my life... crazy tech, fast, i lil sketchy sometimes, but all in all, i can't do a single trick this guy does...
royal fam- i liked these dudes, that jensen dude got some originality in him... that curb gap to back lip!? get the hell out! and that bradey dude... that crooky drop!? damn! the dudes were young, a lil sketchy, but they held it down..
french conec- gillet is a damn legend, reasauueeususu (or however you spell his name), dope but too short, but damn PUIG!!!! how have i slept on dude! i always knew he was sick... but holy crap! did you see that tre off the bump! no, did you rewind your dvd and look at that thing!? nuff said...
cairo- i love this dude, takes gnar skating to another level without being all 20 rail trick zeroed out... nollie flipping that street gap!? dude is ill... definitely in my top ten..
lenoce- good skating, nothing new, too short
scott- (see above) only way too short
welsh- loved, but i'm biased b/c dude's in my top 5, way too short, but did tons of stuff i've never seen... and in regards to the top three... where is ya'lls footage? you guys didn't have much else to film for, why not bang out the most hyped vid of the century? anyway...
olson- is it just me, or is this dude some bad shit!? dopest am of the year... hands down, while every other am is counting stairs and practicing switch lips on rails, this dude is the most original... your gonna see this dude...
howard/carrol... awesome as always... you can always depend on some good shit from these two... what trips me out the most is that these two guys, two pioneers of street skating as we know it, can still hold it down after so many years...
biebel... 'see that, that's fucking redline,' i love biebs... so epic, and gnarly, too! started off with all those huge big flip and 360 bangers! keep hatin...
frost... love this dude, especially with laserbeams out his mouth, epic... still coming up with new tricks to this day, someone stop this guy, he's put a new trick in every video part since... since forever!
mariano... dude went away and came back with a vengeance! i can't even name half the tricks this guy did, swith shuv body varial to 5-0 or something!? super clean and just sick! dude's as innovative as he was in mouse... you kiddies know what that video is????
marc johnson... now, there's been plenty of hate on the net lately b/c mj got the coveted soty over at thrasher, and all you drehobel/hewett lovin dudes are throwing a fit! not to mention the duffel lovers! go get some air freshner and some tissue paper, b/c mj just shit on everyone! yeah, i know, his banger was done by daewon a few years ago, but while daewon (one of the illest alive) was pushing around lil benches, mj did that shit on a legit spot... you know what, forget his banger, how about that frontboard 270 noseblunt... or the backnose 180 switch five... or the frontboard to front nose... look, i could go on for days, but this is the illest part i've seen in a minute! the way it's put together, it's an mj you've never seen, and how man head smashes did dude take!? we've seen mj rip before, but not with lines and tricks like this, you can't tell me you've seen half the tricks he did before he did em, know why? b/c no one's done the shit he does!! think of the shit he pulled, and tell me who else has done it... go on, i'm waiting, and forget how can do it, b/c that's irrelevant, that fact is marc did that shit first, and that's all you need, and with no crooked grinds and only a few tailslides.... think on that, most of dudes ledge tricks were blunts... the hardest ledge trick.... stop ya hatin' for once, and let me be ironic....

a suprise SOTY... but deserved...
god damn are fools hating on this year's SOTY! already almost 100 lil message board hate ridden posts on the thrasher site and you know that shit ain't dying down soon! but let's dig into a few things, like why Marc Johnson deserves this above anyone else all the skaterats voted for, why nobody else really deserves it this year, and why is everyone so mad?
so first off, i don't vote for this stuff, really, the votes don't count that much, let's get honest, if the voter's have their way, every Internet posting lil skaterat would've picked for duffel, who by no means should be SOTY in the near future, yeah, i said it.. wanna know why? there's a few reasons, first and foremost, by any means, the SOTY should never say it is there goal to be skater of the year, Corey stated that in his interview, and that's probably a main reason he didn't get it, that statement lacks the ultimate humility that all past SOTY's have had, how on earth can you state something like that, i'm sure it's many pros dreams to be SOTY, but who's gonna have the audacity to say something like that? don't get me wrong, duffel's sick, his interview was bananas, his foundation part was legit, haven't seen the osiris part (don't really care), but the dude's gotta pay some more dues, he holds it down, but not the extent that past SOTYs have...
see, every SOTY has had a history of holding it down for many many years, while the award encompasses one's great year in skateboarding, it also goes for an entire pros career, look at rowley, reynolds, daewon, anderson, caroll, all those dudes had great years when they won, but they could've easily won in any other year, they put in dues and work in skating, duffel just needs to keep grinding and maybe he'll get it, and don't think people have forgotten his little infamous interview... he won't live that down anytime soon... and yeah, he might have put out two parts this year, but who was really hyped for 'feed the need?' i garuntee that 'fully flaired' will outsell all the copies of 'feed the need' in fully flaired's first day... nuff said...
furthermore, who really laid it down this year? honestly, lots of ads were shot, there were some good interveiws here and there, a few amazing bangers, but who really held it down of being SOTY worthy? yeah, janoski killed it and probably will be dropping to insane parts, but he's got a few more years to put in, too...
but honestly, i really couldn't call who would be this year's SOTY, and yeah, i was surprised by the pick, but i know it's deserved, and i haven't even seen fully flaired, but any guy who closes out the most anticipated video since yeah right, and any dude who closes out a video with three songs!!! come on now, how can you even doubt thrasher made the wrong decision...

where the new legacies at?
I've been slackin,' being a bum and neglecting this shit when i need to get it off the ground... here we go...
Like the title states, where are skating's new legacies at? Go ahead, think about it and then respond with paul rodriguez, shaun white, ryan sheckler, jereme rogers... yadda yadda yadda...
no, i'm not talking about the good skaters, but who's gonna go down in history for doing the damn thing?
Think about it... look at some current legacies of skating, reynolds, koston, thomas, a bunch of dudes who can kill it, are still killing it, will kill it for years to come, and will hopefully always be remembered in the history of skating... but who's gonna fill their shoes? Honestly, where's the originality and determination of true skateboarding these days? It's like every new hot shit skater has to want to 'win' in skating... really, win this shit! I was watching schecklers despicable excuse of a tv show. And while it just fueled my dislike for him as a skater, what really did it in was his 'i have to win this contest' attitude... and it was the fucking mountain dew tour... really? is this what skating is coming to? Our new generation of young rippers have to go out, 'practice' skating, and win it? I know, everyone practices tricks, EVERYONE, but it's not with a jock ass pro sports attitude, get that shit out of here?
and where has originality and progression gone to? take p-rod, probably one of the best skaters to ever do it, honestly, that guy can do every trick i can do switch and with much better style in one try, but is anyone else tired of his stock shit? haven't we seen all of his tricks done by other skaters before? but the kiddies love the p-rod, so he'll go down in history, but not in the same respect as the aforementioned real current legends of skateboarding...
take reynolds, for instance, dude has frontside flipped everything in the world, better than anyone else ever could, so does he keep doing his stock shit everyday? no, he went ahead to the most insane spots he's already murdered and has continued to murder them with different and more insane tricks... a backside flip down wallenberg? that back heel in Barcelona? two covers on the two top mags in six months? now go ahead and tell me who's gonna fill those shoes...
not that there aren't some dudes puttin it down who could step up, i've been recently hyped on jake duncomb, that dude killed kotr and could continue to put it down in skating... and ironically i'm writing this on premiere night of fully flared, but alex olsen could have a bright future in front of him, too, and popollardo kills it? but those last two are constantly hated on... but wait, those dudes will be going down sooner than later...
i'm tired and writing nonsense now... i'll keep it up and please read this shit, until later, the hater's out...

The intro...
hello no one who's reading this blog... i hope one day to have a few hits... but let's get the bs out of the way...
my name's ben, i live in the LA area with my baby's momma and lil boy, used to reside in VA, in the DC metro area, but boot scoot and boogied out to the westcoast to be none other than famous baby! but seriously, some of you probably know me... and the rest of you soon will...
constant internet lurker, full time dad, constant hater, and 100% skater, that's me, and while half of us hide behind screennames and talk smack on rumor forums, and the other half only talk sh!t with our homies, i'm bringing uncut, judgemental, and honest talk about what i think of some stuff going on in skateboarding, and you're right, i might just be hiding behind this blog post, but if you really need to get at me, i'll let you...
think about it, we all watch videos, right? so when was the last time you saw a magazine give a skate vid a bad review? are all skate videos that good? c'mon now, we all know that certain videos suck, but who's gonna put it out there like that?
and when was the last time you saw someone really talk about how they feel about skater XYZ? with the exception of clyde singleton and dave carnie (two of the realest dudes holding it down for honest talk in skateboarding) everyone else is quick to bite tongue about some sell out un-original stock trick reality tv show skater...
but who am i to crown myself as an honest critic of skateboarding? you're right, i'm nobody. a average skater who barely has time for the damn thing anymore, a dude who will never be sponsored or do half a trick in any video... but i love skating, I F#CKING LOVE THIS $HIT! it's the only thing i've kept constant for over half my life, and no matter what, it's something i can always go to, even if it's just for five minutes...
so what can we expect from this lil blog of mine...
